Bailout

“It’s extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can’t find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.”

  1. Found you through Bye Bye Pie. GREAT quote. And I agree with Ric. :)I have such a heavy heart about this election. No matter who wins, I think the American people are going to lose. What a pity. Further more, I cannot help what this does to those who wish to harm us. They see all the turmoil and self-destruction here on our soil…can’t help but wonder if someone might try to kick us while we’re down. Sheesh, I’m sounding paranoid now. Regarding Palin’s interview with Couric…it was painfully obvious to me that her camp has shut her up and made her unsure of herself after the interview with Charlie. I also am wondering about her now. She left the impression that she isn’t sure WHO Sarah Palin is now. I was struck yesterday that we were 40 days out. FORTY days. I can only think of biblical reference to that!

  2. that’s pretty heavy. and true. It’s amazing the amount of money we throw around in our country while people all over the world are suffering.Quotes like this change my thinking just a little bit more each time I hear them – hopefully I can be more a part of the solution and not the problem.

  3. Man do I ever agree with the sentiment and the heart behind that statement! The problem is that the reality is not as simple as that quote makes it sound. The truth is that the U.S. can’t find $700 billion to save Wall Street, so they’re going to steal it from the tax payers in America. They are forcing us to bail out billionaires who did a crappy job running their businesses. That’s where they’re getting the $700 billion. The problem is, you couldn’t just turn around and do the same thing to combat the massive problems in the rest of the world. Charity is elective. You can’t force people to spend their money to help others. Actually … you could … but that’s Socialism, and Socialism (while it may sound great at first blush) always leads to Communism.Enter Barack Obama, stage right. *He Waves*
